Heroes of Warcraft Battlegripes

When hearthstone exploded onto the gaming scene, rolling out with the burgeoning with the card collecting genre of games, it was a smash hit. It was free to play, featured handsome artwork and a fast, rate of gameplay that delighted gamers from all walks of life.

Hearthstone has changed.

The game is now rife with attractive microtransactions that help new players get into the game much more easily than grinding. This is great since the pace of the game has all but come to a grinding halt with almost all players allowing the timer to run out on every turn so they have more time to strategize their next trip to the refrigerator for a Mountain Dew. New game modes have rolled out and every single one of them is a carefully crafted, curated, and well designed way to jump into the foray of Hearthstone. That is, if you ignore the fact that Mercenaries still doesn’t have an ending or being entirely unable to challenge your friends. It’s okay though, because instead of error reporting that allows you to diagnose what the issue might be, it jokes about “playful sprites”, claims that “something happend on our end”, or informs you that the other player left and you were unable to join, leaving your friend to play against other players, make new friends, and leave you forever.

One such mode is Battlegrounds. It came about during the auto chess craze; a hybrid of idle hero mobile games and slot machines. There isn’t really a good reason to play Battlegrounds as there is no collecting of permanent decks nor a deep strategy. You can, however, bring in some of your Hearthstone microtransactions to flex on other players and advertise visually pleasing alternatives to the dated interface. There are also Battlegrounds exclusive micotransactions which is great because having something that is locked on a game mode makes you feel like an Ubisoft CEO.

Well, some players aren’t don’t have as positive an outlook on the game of Hearthstone as I do. Check out this post that was sent to us.

OP makes a good point. Battlegrounds has become a severely one sided game due to people bothering to put thought into the game. This sometimes referred to as “scaling” or “fast tier”. Some players even opt to utilize the much maligned “hero powers”. each hero has a hero power

Some hero powers are much better than others. Using them is cheating but the game lacks a report feature.

This may be what the reddit poster is complaining about. Blizzard made the decision to introduce hero powers at release. It is understood that these are meant to be game changing clutch abilities but an apparent bug allows most heroes to use their power over and over throughout the game, causing severe imbalance. Another Reddit poster did not agree but also agreed with OP. This is a reflection of the highest degree of Battlegrounds indoctrination.

It does appear, however, that the replier has their own gripes, making vague statements that eerily rings of the innate bias of white privilege.

Tell us what you think! Do you think Battlegrounds is too hard because players use mean emotes while Bob acts passive aggressive?

  1. Not funny I didn’t laugh. Your joke is so bad I would have preferred the joke went over my head and you gave up re-telling me the joke. To be honest this is a horrid attempt at trying to get a laugh out of me. Not a chuckle, not a hehe, not even a subtle burst of air out of my esophagus. Science says before you laugh your brain preps your face muscles but I didn’t even feel the slightest twitch. 0/10 this joke is so bad I cannot believe anyone legally allowed you to be creative at all. The amount of brain power you must have put into that joke has the potential to power every house on Earth. Get a personality and learn how to make jokes, read a book. I’m not saying this to be funny I genuinely mean it on how this is just bottom barrel embarrassment at comedy. You’ve single handedly killed humor and every comedic act on the planet. I’m so disappointed that society has failed as a whole in being able to teach you how to be funny. Honestly if I put in all my power and time to try and make your joke funny it would require Einstein himself to build a device to strap me into so I can be connected to the energy of a billion stars to do it, and even then all that joke would get from people is a subtle scuff. You’re lucky I still have the slightest of empathy for you after telling that joke otherwise I would have committed every war crime in the book just to prevent you from attempting any humor ever again. We should put that joke in text books so future generations can be wary of becoming such an absolute comedic failure. Im disappointed, hurt, and outright offended that my precious time has been wasted in my brain understanding that joke. In the time that took I was planning on helping kids who have been orphaned, but because of that you’ve waisted my time explaining the obscene integrity of your terrible attempt at comedy. Now those kids are suffering without meals and there’s nobody to blame but you. I hope you’re happy with what you have done and I truly hope you can move on and learn from this piss poor attempt
